Just outside of Boston, a longstanding garden invites caregivers and their patients to relax and unwind. Opened in 2008 by Mary MacDonald, a chaplain, Rest Stop Ranch features lush vegetable gardens, ADA-compliant trails, and a serene koi pond. In a pair of recent interviews with Channel 5 and WCVB, MacDonald said about the Ranch: “We knew we were going to make a difference for caregivers,” MacDonald said. “They need a break, and we wanted to create that place...It’s most important that the long-term caregivers have a place for respite,” MacDonald said. “So that they could come with their person and have a breath of fresh air and maybe bring a picnic, maybe bring poetry.”
